Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information rohitparihar.com (the "Site") and its companion iOS and Android apps (the "Apps") collect, how it's used, and the choices you have. All three - the website, iOS app, and Android app - pull content from the same backend, so this one policy applies to all of them.
Information We Collect
If you create a free account (to subscribe to the newsletter or comment on posts):
- Email address (required)
- Name and avatar, if you choose to add them
Accounts are managed through our publishing platform's built-in membership system. We don't run a separate database of our own - it's stored there on our behalf.
If you leave a comment:
- The comment text, publicly visible under your name/avatar
- Comments run on our publishing platform's own native commenting system, not a third-party service
If you subscribe to the newsletter:
- Your email address is used to send newsletter issues, delivered through our email delivery partner
- You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any newsletter email
Aggregate site analytics:
- We use our publishing platform's own built-in analytics tool to see overall stats like which posts are popular and how many people visit
- It does not use tracking cookies and does not build a profile tied to you individually - it only shows aggregate numbers (e.g. country-level location, browser/device type, referring page)
Standard technical data:
Like virtually any website, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and device type) for security and to keep the Site running.
Preferences stored on your device:
The website remembers small preferences - like your chosen visual skin and light/dark mode - using your browser's local storage, not a tracking cookie. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. The Apps may similarly store small preferences locally on your device.
Cookies
The Site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. If you sign in as a member, our publishing platform sets one functional cookie to keep you signed in - required for login to work, not used for tracking.
Fonts
The website and both apps use fonts bundled locally. No font is loaded from an external font service, so no data is sent anywhere as a result of font rendering.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above only to:
- Operate your account, comments, and newsletter subscription
- Understand overall site usage so we can improve the content
- Keep the Site and Apps secure and working correctly
We do not sell your information and do not share it with advertisers.
Who We Share Information With
We rely on a small number of specialized service providers to run the Site - a publishing platform that manages accounts, comments, and analytics, and an email delivery partner that sends newsletter issues. We don't share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.
A note on openness: the publishing platform behind this Site is open-source software, released under the MIT License, and is developed and maintained by a non-profit organization rather than a for-profit company monetizing your data. That means its underlying code - including how account and subscriber data is stored and handled - is publicly available for anyone to inspect, audit, or independently verify. Nothing about how it works is hidden behind closed, proprietary code.
The Apps (iOS and Android)
Both apps fetch posts and pages from our own website's content feed. They do not run their own analytics or tracking beyond what's described in this policy. If you sign in as a member from within an app to comment or subscribe, the handling described above applies the same way.
Your Choices
- Comments and newsletter: update or delete your account, or unsubscribe, anytime via your account settings or the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Data requests: ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us (see below).
Children's Privacy
This Site and these Apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
App Store Disclosures
App Store is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above always reflects the latest version.
