Some really great moments, especially near the end, and strong acting by the lead actress. A good movie in the Alien franchise. But it felt more CGI-heavy and rushed/choppy sometimes, losing the charm or scar of the Alien universe.
Movies | Action
Phenomenal live-action adaptation with jaw-dropping, fast-paced sword choreography! Takeru Satoh’s acting is really good as Kenshin with Tatsuya Fujiwara shining as ruthless Shishio. Runtime gets a bit lengthy across films, but the action totally delivers. Watch the whole franchise on a big screen!
Movies | Comedy
Energetic movie! It is a chaotic mix of yakuza comedy and guerrilla cinema. It has some shock value through violence but many of the scenes are well done!
Movies | Action, Thriller
I found it to be a wild, inventive sci-fi ride with fierce class-warfare energy! Really wonderful acting, whether subdued or eccentric, by everyone! It gets gloriously bizarre, but it completely hooks you. Watch it with good headphones!
Movies | Action
It’s the only Godzilla movie I liked from Hollywood. I found the build-up to the kaiju reveals to be so well done, complemented by the excellent score! The scale and sound design are the main highlights. Built for the big screen with great speakers!
Movies | Action, Drama
What a powerhouse balancing raw human grief with true kaiju dread showing sincerity in much of its choices! And those effects! Godzilla shown as a true beastly horror unlike the American movies. Watch it in 4K with great speakers!
Movies | Thriller, Horror, Action
From chaotic shaky-cam monster dread to an intensely tense bunker thriller, both kept me hooked! The sudden shifts might throw you, but the payoffs deliver. Watch with good headphones in a dark room!
Movies | Thriller
Quite a brilliantly well-made thriller movie that is equally difficult and gripping to watch. Obviously not an easy movie because of the topics and the way it shows them. But truly a stunning movie.
Movies | Horror
Excellent acting by everyone and staging that builds mounting dread. Get good headphones and watch on a big screen if you can, because you will need subtitles in some places.
Movies | Comedy
Constant Hollywood satire with a surprisingly energetic performance from quite a cast in ridiculous situations. Some of the humour relies more on shock value than on witty situational writing. Still, I’m unsure whether movies like this can still be made!
Movies | Action, Thriller
Remarkably well-made movie in difficult locations. Once it gets going, it has relentless pacing and sustains a vivid wilderness chase. The physical brutality can put off some but nearly everything in the movie plays a role.
Movies | Drama, Thriller
I watched this mainly for Joaquin Phoenix’s magnetic performance, though the film certainly has moments that leave a strong impression. It felt less self-important and more focused on showing his internal justification. Or perhaps that simply depends on the viewing perspective.
Movies | Drama, Comedy
Movies | Drama
Made in 1976 and it still holds strong! I found it to be an unvarnished look at alienation and street-level detail, with a narrative that becomes bleaker but somehow firm towards the end. The camera work is amazing, along with the exceptional acting.
Movies |
I found it to be a charming chaotic chemistry among three escapees enveloped in wonderful colour grading and visual style, mixed with folk soundtrack, and ridiculous moments in comical stories and characters.
Movies | Thriller, Action
Every actor in this movie gives great performances, but Javier Bardem delivers an iconic villain! It is slow but methodical, capturing so many excellent shots!
Movies | Fantasy, Thriller, Drama
A dark masterpiece that stays difficult to digest but that’s the point. Guillermo del Toro’s practical creature effects and visuals are unforgettable. There are grim pieces but the experience is magical.
Movies | Thriller, Drama
A really well-made movie with a raw docu-drama feel and wonderfully realistic performances from everyone. सभी साज़िशकर्ताओं को ध्यान में रखना और पूरी कहानी को लगातार समझना थोड़ा मुश्किल लगता है। लेकिन फिर भी, सबसे बेहतरीन फिल्मों में से एक।
Movies | Anime
Unique!! Gorgeously detailed hand-drawn animation and enchanting atmospheres like the bathhouse world! The bizarre spirit rules and dreamlike logic might feel a bit too much, but every oddity feels meaningful in Chihiro's journey. Definitely watch it with the original Japanese audio!
Movies | Horror, Action, Thriller
From the frantic runs of the original, to the panic-filled city dash of the sequel, to the slow sudden horror of the latest, to that stunning satanic dance of Ralph Fiennes. I enjoyed each movie’s distinct style and setting. Can’t wait for Cillian Murphy’s return!
Movies | War, Drama
A wonderful performance and direction by Ralph Fiennes with some really excellent scenes carried by Vanessa Redgrave and cast! Try to stick with the dense verses but overall, highly recommended!
Movies | Action, Sci-Fi
Probably one of the best movies in the Star Wars franchise. Strong characters don’t always need to be strongly written!
Movies | Action
One of the best American Western movies with an interesting story told through incredibly long shots zoomed way into characters and way out to amazing landscapes, acting, techniques and music that just come together for an entertaining ~3 hours.
Movies | Sci-Fi, Action, Horror
Finally, a good movie in the Alien franchise! I found this to be a really good surprise that brings and builds the dread and horror in some amazing moments, but the main small weakness is the lost opportunity by messing up few key moments by characters.
Movies | Horror, Sci-Fi
Like Prometheus, which was released 5 years earlier, Covenant also feels CGI-heavy and rushed but with characters that are less memorable. Some great moments but it feels like a sequel to a sequel in some strange way.
Movies | Sci-Fi, Horror, Action
No more barely-seen horror of Alien. James Cameron’s sequel brings a relentless army that drains resolve and weapons as the odds rise. Tense, tense, tense! One of the best sci-fi action horror movies!
Movies | Sci-Fi, Horror
A perfect space horror movie about something you don’t even see often or clearly. Some may find it slow at first. But it does not let go for even a moment once it hooks you.
Movies | Action, Horror
Set in 1719 with an excellent heroine in the form of Naru, a Comanche hunter, who is looking to prove herself. Built around patience instead of firepower. Brings back the magic of the original 1987 movie but in its own way!
Movies | Action, Horror
The movie drops an elite rescue squad in a gorgeous rainforest where you watch them dominate and try to survive. Full of great moments from a cast and crew you can feel working hard in a harsh environment, making smart choices despite tough challenges. Not hard to see why it has become a legend.

I’m finally making time to read this book. While it challenges the pessimistic narrative that the world is growing more violent, my goal is also to observe how a master researcher structures massive global datasets into a cohesive narrative.
Books | Science
Getting ready to read this book to ground myself in physical realities. I want to see how Vaclav Smil synthesises agronomy and economics to explain the hidden complexities of food production, without the political noise.
Books | Science, History
Where 'How to Feed the World' focuses on one survival pillar, this book by Vaclav Smil zooms out to energy and economics. I want to read this demanding book to better understand the macro-systems driving human progress.

Games | Action, Sci-Fi
A really rare product of everything being exceptionally well-made!! An interesting, seriously smooth gameplay driven by an excellent story that keeps growing. And they released a stunning remastered version! Jump in!
TV Shows | Thriller
A gorgeously twisted visual feast with excellent acting and story! The dreamlike atmosphere is really well-shot. It gets intensely graphic and psychological, but the artistry is really good. Watch it on a good TV!

Energetic movie! It is a chaotic mix of yakuza comedy and guerrilla cinema. It has some shock value through violence but many of the scenes are well done!
TV Shows | Action, Drama
It feels more like a story between two main and a few more characters. When it does want to show itself as a survival series, it feels rushed somehow. But maybe that’s because the other good parts are very well done, with excellent acting!
TV Shows | Drama, Comedy
Vince Gilligan delivers another ride with a great cast shining in fine acting! The eerie concept of a polite takeover is fresh. The pacing starts a bit slow, but the dark comedy pays off.
TV Shows | Action, Sci-Fi
Wonderfully grounded with gritty tension and outstanding writing! Diego Luna and the entire ensemble make the slow-burn rebellion feel dangerous. The early episodes take time to build, but the payoff is incredible.
TV Shows | Thriller
Why did they not continue this show?! Excellent acting, story and tension in a cat-and-mouse hunt that tracks both a serial killer’s double life and a cool detective’s pursuit. Season three slows down considerably, but the first two are pure thrillers.
TV Shows | Comedy
Hilarious British sitcom with chaotic energy and endlessly quotable banter! The basement trio and characters like Douglas and Richmond make even ridiculous setups work so well. I wish there was less laugh soundtrack, but it doesn’t stop being funny.
TV Shows | Thriller
I haven't watched S3-S4 but season one is still television at its finest with unmatched packaging and southern gothic dread! Season two gets messy and convoluted, but the gritty noir mood still works. Watch the first season with good headphones!
TV Shows | Drama
I found Shōgun to be very well-made and wonderfully detailed! The characters, acting, dialogue and political scheming are built up with patience. Best to watch on a big screen because you will need subtitles.
TV Shows | Thriller
Not usually available on most platforms. It is visually striking with hyper-saturated colours, conspiracy dread, and chaotic energy! The display of violence is discomforting for sure.
